Welcome to the Penguin the Chef amigurumi pattern! Penguin is a lovable character who loves to cook up a storm in the kitchen. He’s designed with a chubby body, wearing a classic chef outfit, complete with black pants, a white shirt, and a chef hat. This intermediate pattern uses fine weight yarn and a 2.3 mm hook size, creating a detailed and intricate design that will bring Penguin to life.

To create the perfect look for Penguin, we recommend using a pair of 10 mm safety eyes, which can be attached to the head during the assembly process. Penguin’s design uses several crochet stitches, including single crochet stitch, single crochet increase stitch, single crochet decrease stitch, back/front loop only, back post double crochet stitch, front post double crochet stitch, and slip stitch. LEGS (make 2)

(start with grey yarn)

• Rnd 1: sc 6 into MR (6sts)
• Rnd 2: inc 6 (12sts)
• Rnd 3: sc 12 (12sts)
• Rnd 4: [inc, sc 3] 3 times (15sts)

Change to black yarn, leave a 50cm tail to make the hem (or you can join yarn later)

• Rnd 5: sc 15 (15sts)

Place the black yarn tail at the front

• Rnd 6: BLO [inc, sc 4] 3 times (18sts)
• Rnd 7: sc 18 (18sts)

Cut the yarn.

To make the hem: use the black yarn tail (or join yarn to the remaining loop of round 5), make sure grey part is facing you: FLO sc 15 (15sts)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

For the second leg: do not fasten off.

BODY

(continue from the second leg)

• Ch 9 (image-4), join to the first leg (image-5)

Change to white yarn

COLLAR

Fold and crochet in both layers

ASSEMBLY

• Sew the red collar to the body from round 27 to round 16.
• Embroider 6 buttons on the belly from round 19 to round 26.
• Sew the arms to the body at round 27.
• Sew the beak to the head from round 35 to round 39, between 2 eyes.
• Sew the hat to the top of the head (do not stuff).
• Use white thread to embroider the highlight on the side of the eyes.
