Cat Amigurumi: Getting Started
Materials
You can choose any colors you like for your bunny, below is my choice for you as a reference. Looking for the best yarn for amigurumi project? Read the post about my best yarn for amigurumi to find out more.
- Sport yarn (or find these amigurumi yarn) with colors: white, light blue, pink, light pink, black, yellow, red.
- Hook size 2.0 mm or try with these hooks.
- Scissors, pins and needles. (crochet tool kit for beginners) (or find these)
- One pair of safety eyes size 8mm. Or black thread for sewing the eyes and nose.
- Stuffing (polyfill, cotton wool, etc.).
Abbreviations
This pattern is written using US TERM. For beginners, please refer to this post to learn about all basic crochet stitches for beginners.
- Rnd/rnds: Round/ Rounds
- R: Row
- MR: magic ring (magic circle)
- Ch: chain stitch
- Sc: single crochet stitch
- Inc: single crochet increase
- Dec: single crochet decrease
- BLO: Back loop only
- FLO: Front loop only
- Dc: Double crochet stitch
- Hdc: Half double crochet stitch
- St/ sts: Stitch/ Stitches

Notes
- The finished size is 18 cm (sport yarn)
- Gauge: 30 sts and 32 rows (10cm x 10cm)
- For a better result, use single crochet cross stitch (yarn under) and invisible single crochet decrease stitch.
- Work in a continuous spiral unless otherwise specified.

Ears
Start with white yarn
- Rnd 1: sc 6 into MR (6sts)
- Rnd 2: [sc, inc] 3 times (9sts)
Change to pink yarn on BOLD stitches
- Rnd 3: sc 2, inc, sc, sc, inc, sc 2, inc (12sts)
Right ear
- Rnd 4: sc 3, inc, sc, sc 2 (8sts)
Fasten off.
Left ear
- Rnd 4: sc 3, inc, sc, sc 2, inc, sc 3, inc (15sts)
Fasten off.
Head
Use yellow yarn
Join yarn to the left ear, ch 12, join to the right ear, turn and work on WS (image.1-3)
- Rnd 5: {sc, bo}, [sc, bo] 2 times, {sc, bo}, [sc, bo] 3 times, sc (left ear), [bo, sc] 6 times (on-chain), [bo, sc] 7 times, bo (right ear), [sc, bo] 6 times (on chain), ss to the 1st stitch of this round (do not count as a stitch) (54sts)

- R1: sc into the 2nd chain from the hook, sc 3 (4sts)
- R2: inc, sc 2, inc (6sts)
- R3: inc, sc 4, inc (8sts)
- R4: sc 7, inc (9sts)
- R5: inc, sc 6, dec (9sts)
- R6: dec, sc 6, inc (9sts)

Assembly
- Place the safety eyes between round 13 and 14, the distance between 2 eyes is 7 stitches.
- Use black thread to sew the nose (round 15, 16), mouth (round 17, and whisker (round 15, 16).
- Sew the arms to the head at round 22.
- Sew the heart between 2 arms.
- Sew the wings to the back at round 16 to round 26.
- Sew the fins to the tail.
- Use pink yarn to embroider the pattern on the tail.
