Guide To Crochet Pear

Materials

  • (sport) fine weight yarns (#2) with colors: yellow/lime, dark green, cream, brown, black. (recommended yarns: Yarnart Jeans or my favorite amigurumi yarn)
  • Hook size 2.3 mm. (I’m using this Hamanaka hook)
  • Scissors, pins, and needles for sewing. Fiberfill stuffing.
  • One pair of safety eyes size 8mm. Or black thread for sewing the eyes and nose.

Abbreviations

This pattern is written using US TERM. For beginners, please refer to this post to learn about all basic crochet stitches for beginners.

Pattern notes

  • Make larger finished sizes with these bulky yarns: Himalaya Dolphin Baby, Nine yarn, Alize bulky yarn.
  • For a better result, use single crochet cross stitch (yarn under) and invisible single crochet decrease stitch.
  • Work in a continuous spiral unless otherwise specified.

  • Rnd 1: sc 6 into MR (6sts)
  • Rnd 2: inc 6 (12sts)
  • Rnd 3: [sc, inc] 6 times (18sts)
  • Rnd 4: [sc 2, inc] 6 times (24sts)
  • Rnd 5: [sc 3, inc] 6 times (30sts)
  • Rnd 6-7 (2 rnds): sc 30 (30sts)
  • Rnd 8: [sc 4, inc] 6 times (36sts)
  • Rnd 9-10 (2 rnds): sc 36 (36sts)
  • Rnd 11: [sc 5, inc] 6 times (42sts)
  • Rnd 12-13 (2 rnds): sc 42 (42sts)
  • Rnds 14: [sc 6, inc] 6 times (48sts)
  • Rnd 15-16 (2 rnds): sc 48 (48sts)
  • Rnd 17: [sc 7, inc] 6 times (54sts)
  • Rnd 18: [sc 8, inc] 6 times (60sts)
  • Rnd 19-27 (9 rnds): sc 60 (60 sts)

Start stuffing.

If you use the safety eyes, place them between round 29 and round 30, the distance between two eyes is 9 stitches.

  • Rnd 33: [sc 5, dec] 6 times (36sts)
  • Rnd 34: [sc 4, dec] 6 times (30sts)
  • Rnd 35: [sc 3, dec] 6 times (24sts)
  • Rnd 36: [sc 2, dec] 6 times (18sts)
  • Rnd 37: [sc, dec] 6 times (12sts)
  • Rnd 38: dec 6 (6sts)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

From now, work in rows. Fasten off and join the yarn to the first stitch of the previous row to make the next row.

  • Row 31-32 (2 rows): sc 40 (40sts)
  • Row 33: sc 7, dec, [sc 6, dec] 3 times, sc 7 (36sts)
  • Row 34-35 (2 rows): sc 36 (36sts)
  • Row 36: sc 6, dec, sc 5, dec, sc 6, dec, sc 5, dec, sc 6 (32sts)
  • Row 37: [sc 5, dec] 2 times, sc 4, [dec, sc 5] 2 times(28sts)
  • Row 38: [sc 4, dec] 4 times, sc 4 (24sts)
  • Row 39: [sc 3, dec] 2 times, sc 4, [dec, sc 3] 2 times (20sts)
  • Row 40: sc 3, dec, [sc 2, dec] 3 times, sc 3 (16sts)

Do not fasten off.

Continue from the hood

Put the hood on the head.

  • Ch 10 (or more until reaching the left side), ss into the first stitch of row 41. Turn the head and do: sc 10, ss into the last stitch of row 40.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Leaf

Use green yarn

  • Ch 9, and stitches are now working on both sides of the foundation chain.
  • Ss into the second chain from the hook, sc, hdc, dc 2, hdc, sc, ss, ch 2, ss into the second chain from the hook, sc, hdc, dc 2, hdc, sc, ss.
  • Ss in each stitch across to make the midrib.

Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.

Stem

Use brown yarn

  • Option 1: Use i-cord technique and make 10 rows
  • Option 2: ch 11, ss into the second chain from the hook, ss 9 (10sts)

Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.

Assembly

  • Use black yarn to embroider the face: mouth, eyes. And pink yarn to embroider the tongue.
  • Sew the stem and the leaf at the top of the head.
